This blog , like many others, is rather under used and. as with many others also, deserves more attention. Here goes... This is something I've been involved in recently in Bristol: it's a kind of spoken word/comedy event involving acts using a variety of media, including: their voices, Powerpoint, Tinder, musical instruments, video, the medium of the game show, notebooks, and other feelies (i.e. things to "show"). It's dictated by a given theme each month and is based on the Show and Tell frame work - clearly.
So far I have been involved in two so far and am currently working diligently on a third (under the theme of jobs) - It's definitely not something I've done before; that is, spoken word which is comedy based, but it's provided a different set of challenges and I've been pleasantly surprised by how my attempts have been received so far. It's also great to listen to others perform.
The next event is on at Cafe Kino, Stokes Croft, Bristol - 22nd Jan 7:30pm - 10pm-ish .
Here are some pictures from the last couple of shows and some extracts from my presentation:

| This, unfortunately, is me at the first Show - looking very awkward. |
The above two images are from my first presentation which re-appropriated Nicolas Poussin's Landscape With A Man Killed By A Snake (c.1648) and framed it as my very own painting, depicting a fictional relationship I had had with the woman represented directly above. Taking details from the painting I illustrated my developing jealousy with a friend of mine and questioned whether this had caused our relationship to breakdown and eventually for her to move away.
I was interested in how the enigmatic central image of the 'man being killed by a snake' would work with the lighter "comedy" (I can't not put that it " marks at my present level of confidence in any of my work) of the overall presentation. Ask those who went whether it worked - I can't remember a thing (I'm not used to "performing" - again with the ").

My second presentation was less good - but I feel like my performance, such as it was, was better. This time I focused on The Muppet's Christmas Carol and how it broke into my childhood reality one Christmas - it was alright.
The next event is on at Cafe Kino, Stokes Croft, Bristol - 22nd Jan 7:30pm - 10pm-ish .
