Finally finished something

Over the years I've written numerous stories, poems and sketches which, if I haven't read out at spoken word events, have mostly sat dormant on my computer. It can be hard when you're not a publishable author to find closure for written work which simply isn't going to find a commercial outlet. Unless, that is, you do it yourself! So I decided quite a while ago that I would turn some of my own work into pamphlets, or zines, or leaflets, or little books, which I could then say: that's it; that's done now.

And so, behold I actually finally finished one of them.

The story is called "The Bride and The Fisherman" and is mostly about a man visiting Bristol Museum and  looking at two paintings housed there.

So the first thing I did was ask Nicola about how to make books (she's made her own for a couple of years). She showed me and then, luckily, bought for me the equipment I would need for my birthday.

I then made a mock up of the book in order to get my head around which page to print on which side of the paper - this confused me an awful lot. I used this mock up to practice binding using the very simple technique which Nicola taught me. The technique is easy enough and requires only a little bit of practice. So here's my first mock up of the book:

I currently have made two copies of the book - one for myself, and one for a friend. If anyone out there is interested in having a copy then please feel free to contact me via twitter

Here's a sexy exert to give you an idea of the content.
