Copy of the poem I read at Show + Tell at Cafe Kino in Bristol on 22nd Jan.

This is primarily a comedy performance evening.

I had been reading James Tate which partly inspired the tone of the performance.

The performance was accompanied by a series of images of "jobs" from the internet including paintings, stock images, videogame screens, photographs.

Circling Fish (originally titled: Fish Painting! - for some reason)

Here's a copy of a story I wrote for a Writers Group in Bristol for Halloween - I decided to go with a spooky story about my own experience of paintings as a child. The eponymous fish painting is actually from a childhood memory of a painting my parents owned and had hanging in their bedroom. It is true that my Grandad had terrible taste in art. 

I think this story goes out to him.

SHOW + TELL Bristol

This blog , like many others, is rather under used and. as with many others also, deserves more attention. Here goes... This is something I've been involved in recently in Bristol: it's a kind of spoken word/comedy event involving acts using a variety of media, including: their voices, Powerpoint, Tinder, musical instruments, video, the medium of the game show, notebooks, and other feelies (i.e. things to "show"). It's dictated by a given theme each month and is based on the Show and Tell frame work - clearly.

This review of Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint was originally posted to a now defunct blog. The idea I wished (and still do) to get across was the impact of the experience of reading itself on the content of the book. I don't think I wholly succeeded here and really it all just becomes a bit subjective to constitute calling it a review. But I liked it, so here it is again.
